Some visual examples of
what you might expect to find when looking for authentic 17th century patterns
for the Cavaliers of England and France While
I try to name direct sources for pre-made patterns on my costume page where
possible, there's a great little book called "The History of
Costume" by Kohler (Dover Publications) which has reference patterns for
many different eras. Main problem: NOT for beginners. You have to draft these
yourself from simple line drawings contained on the pages. I've included
some of the books named in the left margin. Some
of the English Cavalier costumes on this page can be traced/modified from the
following handy pattern: Sewing Central's
Cavalier Costumes -(Direct
Link for Men's) There
is a lot more information on patterns, costumes and more on the main Costumes
